It focuses on the initial transient without affecting the sound of the instrument itself, and even nicely restores the sound of the initial strike if a large amount of distortion has already been applied. There are plenty of other controls for fine tuning, but generally, this plugin works sufficiently in default mode with only the attack and sustain controls requiring adjustment.
